TravelCenters of America Raises $411,000 for St. Jude's

Annual Halloween promotion helps fight childhood cancer
WESTLAKE, Ohio -- TravelCenters of America LLC, through its TA and Petro branded locations, nationwide raised $410,961 for the children of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in October through the 15th annual Halloween Pumpkin Promotion. The 2008 money raised from customers and employees was one of the highest amounts raised by any corporate partner for this month-long promotion.

During the promotion, employees and customers at participating TravelCenters of America and Petro Stopping Centers made $1 donations to St. Jude to support its fight against catastrophic childhood [image-nocss] diseases. Customers could make the donation while dining at the company's full-service restaurants or while visiting the travel stores. In return, the donors had the opportunity to write their names on pumpkin-themed pinups, which were displayed through the month of October.

"TravelCenters of America and Petro are very proud to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in its mission to save children's lives. Our participation in the annual pumpkin promotion gives our hard-working employees and customers the opportunity to do something good for the children treated by St. Jude's and take an active role fighting childhood cancers," said Tom O'Brien, CEO of TravelCenters.

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. Founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas and based in Memphis, Tenn., St. Jude freely shares its discoveries with scientific and medical communities throughout the world. No family ever pays for treatments not covered by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay. St. Jude is financially supported by ALSAC, its fund-raising organization.
