Walmart Brings Back 'Great Gas Rollback'

Fuel discount program will run through December 24

BENTONVILLE, Ark. -- Walmart has brought back its Great Gas Rollback program, which helps customers save on their fuel purchases in three different ways. Walmart customers using a Walmart gift card will receive a 10-cent-per-gallon discount. Customers who use a Walmart MoneyCard or Walmart credit card will save 15 cents per gallon on their fuel purchase.

The Great Gas Rollback will begin August 31 and end December 24. Gasoline will be discounted at more than 1,000 Murphy USA and Walmart gas stations located at Walmart Supercenters in participating states.

"It's a busy time for our customers. They are sending their kids back to school and planning for Labor Day travels, and the holidays are just around the corner. As gas prices get higher, these tasks get tougher," said Duncan Mac Naughton, chief merchandising and marketing officer for Walmart U.S. "We're here to help. Last year, we saved our customers nearly $60 million with the gas rollback program. This year, we're excited to provide an even bigger discount on fuel that will help them save more money when they need it the most."

Walmart's Great Gas Rollback will be available in Arkansas, Alabama (rules differ), Florida (rules differ), Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Bentonville, Ark., serves customers and members more than 200 million times per week at more than 10,300 retail units under 69 different banners in 27 countries. With fiscal-year 2012 sales of $444 billion, Walmart employs 2.2 million associates worldwide.
