20 CPG Manufacturers Land on Fortune 500
By Abbey Lewis on Jul. 05, 2017NEW YORK -- Twenty diverse food-product manufacturers joined the 17 convenience-store and fuel brands that earned spots on the 2017 Fortune 500 list of the largest companies in the United States.
Bentonville, Ark.-based retailer Wal-Mart again took the No. 1 spot overall on the magazine’s annual list, with revenues of $485.9 billion. But for food-production companies, PepsiCo clocked in as the highest at No. 44.
Fortune ranks companies by total revenues. It includes companies that are incorporated in and operate in the United States.

44. PepsiCo
Despite lagging CSD sales, PepsiCo claimed the 44th spot on the Fortune 500, with revenues of $62.8 billion. An increased investment in healthy and better-for-you options has helped create a new class of products at the company, including items such as Tropicana with probiotics and gluten-free organic Tostitos, that helped increased profits last year by 16%.
106. Kraft Heinz
With revenues of $26.5 billion, Kraft Heinz claimed the 106th spot on the Fortune 500. Recent new product releases for the firm include c-store roller-grill items such as the Oscar Mayer Honey Ham & Cheddar Link and the Oscar Mayer Pumpkin Pancake Sausage.
109. Mondelez International
Mondelez comes in at No. 109 with $25.9 billion in revenue. Recent new products include high-profile releases such as belVita Breakfast Bites, Milka Oreo Chocolate Candy Bars and Good Thins.
165. General Mills
With $16.6 billion in revenue, General Mills is No. 165 on the list. New product releases include Pillsbury Minis Chocolate Cake Bites and Nature Valley Granola Cups and XL Bars.
197. Conagra Brands
Conagra Brands is on the list at No. 197, with a revenue of $14.1 billion. New product releases for the company include Slim Jim Turkey Sticks and the recent acquisition of Thanasi Foods, manufacturer of Duke's meat snacks and Bigs seeds.
209. Land O'Lakes
Land O'Lakes makes the Fortune 500 list at 209 this year, with revenue of $13.2 billion. New product releases include a new spreadable butter product, Less Sodium Butter with Canola Oil.
216. Kellogg
With $13.0 billion in revenue, Kellogg is on the list at 216 this year. New c-store-friendly product releases this year include Special K Nourish and Protein Bites and Pringles Loud chips.
295. Hormel Foods
Coming in at No. 295, with a revenue of $9.5 billion, Hormel Foods had some new product releases as well, including Spam Snacks and REV Wraps.
339. Campbell Soup
With revenue of $7.9 billion, Campbell Soup came in at No. 339 on the list. New-product releases for the company include several popular c-store options including Well Yes soup and new V8 Vegetable and Fruit Juice beverages.
346. J.M. Smucker
With revenue of $7.8 billion, J.M. Smucker clocked in at No. 346 on the Fortune 500 list. Numi Organic Tea and Smucker Natural Foods recently unveiled a premium ready-to-drink (RTD) organic tea line that is USDA-certified organic, Non-GMO Project verified and made with fair-trade-certified ingredients.
351. Dean Foods
Dean Foods landed at No. 351 on the list with $7.7 billion in revenue. Dean's new ready-to-drink TruMoo Protein Plus Milk is available in chocolate and vanilla flavors.
369. Hershey
With $7.4 billion in revenue, candy giant Hershey landed at the No. 369 slot on the Fortune 500 list. Hershey unveiled several new high-profile c-store-friendly options this year, including Hershey’s Cookie Layer Crunch bars and Krave Sticks meat snacks.
427. TreeHouse Foods
TreeHouse Foods took the No. 427 spot on the list, with $6.2 billion in revenue. TreeHouse Foods provides private-label food and beverage offerings to retail grocery and foodservice operators in North America.
508. Post Holdings
Post Holdings Inc. is at No. 508 on the list, with $5.0 billion in revenue. The company is a consumer packaged goods holding company operating in the center-of-the-store, foodservice, food-ingredient, private-label, refrigerated and active nutrition food categories.
553. McCormick
McCormick earned the No. 553 spot on this year's list with revenue of $4.4 billion. New products include McCormick for Chefs Stubb’s Bar-B-Q sauce and other McCormick Grill Mates, Stubb’s and Zatarain’s line extensions.
577. WhiteWave Foods
WhiteWave Foods landed at No. 577 this year, with revenue of $4.2 billion. New products from brands under the WhiteWave umbrella, such as Horizon and International Delight, were notable in the c-store industry this year.
594. Flowers Foods
Coming in at No. 594 on the list, Flowers Foods had $3.9 billion in revenue. New products under the Flowers Food umbrella include items from Mrs. Freshley's and Tastykake.
616. Mead Johnson Nutrition
This manufacturer of baby formula and other food supplements came in at No. 616 on the Fortune 500 list, with $3.7 billion in revenue.
708. Pinnacle Foods
Pinnacle Foods is No. 708 on this year's list, with $3.1 billion in revenue. New products include an item from Duncan Hines called Perfect Size for 1.
862. Snyder's-Lance
Snyder's-Lance took the No. 862 spot with $2.3 billion in revenue. New items popular in the c-store include Snyder’s of Hanover Pretzel Pieces and Lance Gluten Free Snack Crackers.
