C-Store Retailer Earns Spot in Candy Hall of Fame

Convenience veteran named among 10 other industry leaders

CLEVELAND -- Scott Hartman, president and CEO of Rutter's Farm Stores, will be inducted into the Candy Hall of Fame in Tampa, Fla., this fall.

Along with 10 other retailing leaders, the York, Pa., convenience-store leader will receive the National Confectionery Sales Association's (NCSA) most prestigious honor that recognizes individuals who have dedicated their careers to giving back for the overall benefit of the candy industry.

The other 2017 Candy Hall of Fame inductees are:

  • Rick Brindle, Mondelez International Inc.
  • Sara Clair, Brown & Haley
  • Ray Cote, American Chocolate Mould Co.
  • Basant Dwivedi, The Promotion In Motion Cos. Inc.
  • Mary Beth Geraci, Carlin-Group
  • Richard Hartel, University of Wisconsin-Madison
  • Rob Nelson, Elmer Chocolate
  • Dave Taiclet, 1-800-Flowers.com/Fannie May Confections
  • Mary Villa, URM Stores Inc.

“The Candy Hall of Fame Class of 2017 is an impressive group of individuals, and we are honored to be recognizing their accomplishments,” said John Leipold, NCSA president and CEO, noting the diversity of the disciplines represented among the inductees.

The Candy Hall of Fame induction will take place during the NCSA's 118th annual meeting Oct. 13-15. The induction ceremony will be preceded by a gala and black-tie dinner featuring presentations that will highlight the honorees’ professional and personal lives. The Candy Hall of Fame weekend draws industry leaders, family members and friends from around the globe to celebrate the candy category’s best and brightest, according to the organization.
