Flowers Foods Fields New C-Store Sales 'Coach'

Adkins will manage the Snack Group's western region convenience store team

TUCKER, Ga. -- Kristen Adkins is joining the Flowers Foods Snack Group's convenience store team effective May 5, 2014, announced Jeff Blalock, vice president for the convenience store channel.

Adkins has a background in sales, previously with AT&T, in Atlanta and Dallas. Most recently, she has been assistant softball coach and women's head cross country coach at the University of Texas-Dallas.

Adkins will remain in Dallas and manage the company's western region, including the western United States and western Canada. She will manage the business enterprise of selling snacks to the convenience store industry.

Based in Thomasville, Ga., Flowers Foods Inc. is one of the largest producers of fresh packaged bakery foods in the United States, with 2012 sales of $3.1 billion. Flowers Foods operates bakeries across the country that produce a wide range of bakery and snack products. Among the company's top brands are Wonder, Merita, Home Pride, Butternut and Nature's Own breads and Tastykake and Mrs. Freshley's snack cakes. The Snack Group is based in Tucker, Ga.
