"NEW Champions play key roles in advancing the Network's mission to attract, retain and advance women in the retail/consumer products industry," said Joan Toth, the organization's president and CEO. "Michelle's approach to business, employee development and opportunity demonstrate her commitment to diversity and inclusion. She leads by example and her success proves the value of gender diversity in the industry's executive ranks."

More than two dozen men and women have been honored as NEW Champions, including Joe DePinto, president and CEO of 7-Eleven; Denise Morrison, president and CEO of the Campbell Soup Co.; and Bill Simon, president and CEO of Walmart US.

As president for North America, Michele Buck is responsible for leading The Hershey Co.'s U.S. and Canadian businesses, delivering more than $6 billion of revenue accounting for approximately 90% of the company's business. Previously, she served as senior vice president and global chief growth officer, where her primary focus was creating and driving a transformational growth agenda for the company.

Prior to joining Hershey in 2005, Buck was an officer of Kraft Foods. During her 17-year tenure at Kraft/Nabisco, she held numerous senior positions, including senior vice president and general manager for Kraft Foods Confections. She sits on the board of directors at New York Life, a Fortune 100 financial services company.

The Network of Executive Women is the retail and consumer products industry's largest women's leadership organization, with 8,300 members representing 750 companies.
