MINONG, Wis. -- Jay Link, president and CEO of Jerky Snack Brands Inc., Minong, Wis., has announced the acquisition of Pioneer Snacks Inc. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Farmington Hills, Mich.-based Pioneer Snacks is a full-line manufacturer of premium meat snacks, specializing in Natural Style Beef Jerky, Snack Sticks, Steak Tenders and Hickory Smoked Sausage Snacks. All products will continue to be manufactured in the company's Mankato, Minn., facility.
The George family founded the company in 1986. Current Pioneer [image-nocss] Snacks president and CEO Robert George will stay on with Pioneer as a member of the executive management team.
Said Link, I grew up in the meat snack industry and have always had a high regard for the George family and their organization.
Link added that he hopes to combine Pioneer with his ownership in the various Link family meat snack companies, and is in the process of resolving differences with his father and brother through the attempted acquisition of their interests in the jointly owned companies.
Pioneer's headquarters will eventually relocate to Minong. The Mankato plant will receive additional capital investment.
