They come in three flavors: Berry Medley, Salted Caramel Chocolate and Salted Pretzel Chocolate.

The snack bars include fruit, chocolate pieces, oats, rice crisps, pretzels and other ingredients.

Research shows that 91% of consumers snack daily, with 25% reporting snacking three to five times each day, the company said, citing Nielsen.

As a $1.2-billion brand in the United States, Special K is well positioned to grow the snack bar category beyond the morning day-part, the company said. Morning snacking has increased from 22% in 2010 to 37% in 2014, according to the IRI/SNAXPO State of the Snack Industry 2014 report, opening the door for retailers to capitalize on this day-part while expanding into the all-day occasion.

With 2012 sales of $14.2 billion, Battle Creek, Mich.-based Kellogg is a leading cereal company, a major producer of cookies, crackers and savory snacks and a leading North American frozen-foods company. Its brands include Kellogg's, Keebler, Special K, Pringles, Frosted Flakes, Pop-Tarts, Corn Flakes, Rice Krispies, Kashi, Cheez-It, Eggo, Coco Pops, Mini-Wheats and more.

Kellogg's Convenience is based in Elmhurst, Ill.
