Kind Debuts Healthy Children’s Snack

Company guarantees full refund to parents whose kids dislike the bars

NEW YORK -- Kind Healthy Snacks has launched its new line of Kind Kids chewy granola bars, which are now available at retailers nationwide. The bars come in Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip and Honey Oat flavors for a suggested retail price of $3.99 per six-pack.

Kind is offering a full refund to parents whose children dislike the bars. Many of today’s parents struggle to get their kids to embrace healthy eating: More than a third of parents said that finding healthy options that their kids will eat is the most stressful thing about packing lunch, according to a survey conducted by Kind.

"We know how hard it is for parents to find healthy options that their kids will actually eat,” said Jon Lesser, vice president of marketing for Kind. “That's why, when crafting Kind Kids, we intentionally balanced nutritious ingredients with delicious flavor to ensure the bars would be a lunchbox win for everyone. If we're wrong and kids don't love the taste, we'll give parents their money back."

The Kind survey also revealed parents’ concerns regarding their children’s sugar intake: A third of parents said the biggest problem with today’s kids’ snack options is that they contain too much sugar. Additionally, 64% of parents chose sugar as the top ingredient they want to limit in school lunches, while 45% selected artificial ingredients.

It appears Kind heard loud and clear. Kind Kids bars are made with 25% less sugar than the average kids’ granola bar, the company said. They’re gluten-free, 100% whole grain and are free of artificial additives. Its core ingredients include oats, sorghum and quinoa.

"Kids snacks often emphasize flavor but lack nutrient density and ingredient variety,” said Stephanie Perruzza, registered dietitian and health and wellness associate manager for Kind. “With Kind Kids, we set out to create something different. We crafted the bars to have less sugar than the leading kids’ granola bar in order to meet health-conscious parents' needs, but we were careful not to sacrifice taste.”

New York-based Kind manufactures products made from whole ingredients, including Kind Fruit & Nut, Kind Nuts & Spices, Kind Healthy Grains Bars and Kind Healthy Grains Clusters.
