Pemmican Partners With Operation Gratitude

Donating beef jerky to deployed U.S. troops in promotion running through mid-July

TAYLOR, Mich. -- Marfood USA recently announced that it has partnered with Operation Gratitude to donate up to $100,000 worth of Pemmican Beef Jerky to deployed U.S. troops.

Specially marked Pemmican Operation Gratitude shipper displays will be in stores from Memorial Day thru mid-July to support the program. For every bag of 3.25-oz. Pemmican Beef Jerky sold to its customers during this period, Pemmican will donate a bag of beef jerky to Operation Gratitude to include in care packages to deployed military personnel.

Since 2011 when Pemmican first partnered with Operation Gratitude, nearly $125,000 in beef jerky has been donated to deployed military personnel as a result of the program.

"Providing something as common to American tradition as beef jerky puts a smile on the faces of tens of thousands of troops stationed across the globe." said Carolyn Blashek, president of Operation Gratitude. "We are most appreciative of Marfood's continued generosity and support, and look forward to continuing to partner with Pemmican Beef Jerky for years to come."

This year is especially exciting for Operation Gratitude and not only because 2013 marks the organization's 10th year in operation. On Dec. 7, Operation Gratitude will officially celebrate sending out its one millionth care package.

"It is exciting to know that Pemmican Beef Jerky's support helped make the one millionth care package possible," said Nakia Mills, marketing manager of Taylor, Mich.-based Marfood USA. "Marfood USA is just happy to have a chance to partner with such a positive organization each year. Operation Gratitude allows us to share Pemmican Beef Jerky with the brave men and women serving our country as a reminder to them that everyone back home appreciates their selfless acts and commitment to protecting our freedom."

Operation Gratitude is a volunteer-based organization that sends personal care packages and letters to U.S. military troops deployed in harm's way. Its mission is to put a smile on a service member's face and express the appreciation and support of the American people.
