CARY, N.C. -- The Pantry Inc.'s Kangaroo Express is challenging its customers to make festive holiday recipes--called ROOcipes--using candy, snacks and other treats found only at their neighborhood Kangaroo Express store.
Inexpensive and fun to make, ROOcipes are a perfect holiday party host gift, slumber party treat or road trip snack, just by combining readily available ingredients in fun and creative ways.
For example, customers can make the "Peppermint Chocolate Dream" ROOcipe by drizzling a melted Hershey's chocolate bar over divided Kellogg's Rice Krispies Treats and topping them with crushed peppermint candies. "Rolo Pretzel Poppers" can be whipped up by placing a Rolo on a snack-size pretzel, melted for just seconds in the microwave or a few minutes in the oven and sandwiched with another pretzel.

"Our guests already know us as an affordable on-the-go destination for snacks and candy," said Joe Venezia, senior vice president of operations for Kangaroo Express. "Now we are excited to see how they will use everyday items bought at their local Kangaroo Express to invent unique, delicious ROOcipes."
The company is encouraging customers, starting on Dec. 8, to share their favorite ROOcipe over Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with the #ROOcipe hashtag for a chance to win a $20 Kangaroo Express gift card and have their ROOcipe featured on the Kangaroo Express Facebook page. It will choose two winners on Dec. 20.
While picking up ingredients for the perfect ROOcipe, guests can also buy last-minute stocking stuffers like ear buds, smartphone cases, holiday DVDs and remote-control toys. And during the month of December, Kangaroo Express is offering special-edition double dark hot chocolate.
As of Oct. 10, 2013, the Cary, N.C.-based company operated 1,547 c-stores in 13 states under select banners, including its primary operating banner, Kangaroo Express. The chain offers hot and cold beverages, snacks, fresh foods, gasoline and a wide assortment of merchandise and services for guests' on-the-go lifestyles. It is home to more than 220 foodservice restaurants, including Subway and Dairy Queen.
