Scouting Out a New Treat

Photo of Thin Mints Nestle Crunch Girl Scout Candy Bar sparks online frenzy

NEW YORK -- The Internet has been abuzz this week after a commenter on social media website Reddit shared a photo of a Thin Mints-flavored Nestle Crunch Girl Scout Candy Bar, with speculation as to whether the treat was real or a hoax, reported MSNBC.

The candy bar, described as "dark chocolate cookie wafers and mint chocolate creme, topped with airy crispies," is real, but will not be available for several months, said the report.

"We are thrilled with the positive response to the Nestle Crunch Girl Scout Candy Bar," Joshua Ackley, a spokesperson for the Girl Scouts of the United States of America, told Today.com. "The product photo is a retail sales sample and not available for sale at this time. Look forward to some very exciting news in June," he said.

CSP Daily News reported yesterday that Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-based convenience store chain Stewart's Shops has added a Premium Dark Chocolate Mintflavor to its private-label candy bar line (click here for previous coverage).
