Sizing Up the 'Big Kat'

New candy bar format available to convenience stores

HERSHEY, Pa. -- The "Big Kat" Kit Kat candy bar is now available in convenience stores and Wal-Mart. It hit retailers in March.

Kit Kat Big Kat

The 1.5-ounce Big Kat is a large, single bar with five layers of wafers (vs. regular Kit Kat's four smaller bars with three layers of wafers) and a higher chocolate ratio. It also comes in a 3-ounce Big Kat King Size.

To complete the full range of size availability, Kit Kat also comes in Kit Kat Mini format.

Hershey showcased Big Kat among several upcoming new products and packaging updates at the annual National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) show last October.

Other products and updates from the tradeshow included:

  • Allan Candy. Allan Candy is a nonchocolate line that offers both traditional and new flavors to meet the growing consumer demand for gummy candy. These various gummy candies will be available in 5-ounce peg bags.
  • Ice Breakers Cool Blasts Chews. Ice Breakers Cool Blasts Chews provide freshness in a quick-dissolving chew. Ice Breakers Cool Blasts Chews will be available in a new wintergreen flavor in a 0.8-ounce slide pack.
  • Take5 Layer Candy Bar. A "bold, contemporary" look is coming to Take5 Candy Bars.
