Slim Jim, Electronic Arts Offer Exclusive Gaming Content

Meat snack brand becomes "unofficial snack of gaming" with on-pack promotion

OMAHA, Neb.-- Retailers and convenience store owners can beef up buy rate in the meat snacks category starting this fall by engaging guys' passion for gaming, said ConAgra Foods Inc. Slim Jim and Electronic Arts Inc. (EA) are partnering to elevate the video game experience for gamers and Slim Jim fanatics.

Now through April 2013, the "Every Code a Winner" on-pack promotion offers consumers free in-game content and a chance to win more than 1,000 gaming prizes. Retailers can leverage the Every Code Wins promotion with in-store displays. The promotion will be further supported by paid advertising and social media support.

"With a 241% increase in U.S. gamers between 2008 and 2011, and 50% of males 18 to 29 spending six or more hours a week gaming, we know that gaming is huge, especially among Slim Jim fans," said Daniel Marple, brand director at ConAgra Foods.

"Gaming and Slim Jim already go hand in hand, so partnering with EA not only gives players more of their favorite snack but also delivers on what gamers want most--exclusive access that enhances their experience and gives them an edge over their buddies," he said.

Fans can get codes on Slim Jim Meat Sticks, DARE Sticks, DARE Beef Jerky and the brand's newest offering--Steakhouse Tender Steak Strips in Smokin' Mesquite and Kickin' Carne Asada.

In total, 180 million unique codes will be printed on specially marked packages.

With every code a winner, codes can be redeemed for a variety of in-game content within some of EA's highly anticipated upcoming game titles that will be released in the coming months--Medal of Honor Warfighter, Need for Speed Most Wanted and Dead Space 3--or a $5 discount off a game purchased on Origin. In addition, gamers will have a shot at instantly winning over 1,000 other prizes, including a trip to EA Motion Capture Studios in Vancouver, meet-and-greet with the Medal of Honor team in Los Angeles, game consoles, Slim Jim Gamer's Ammo Belts and more.
