Speedway Stores Add Jim Beam Sunflower Seeds

Distributor Mix 1 Life expands into convenience channel

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Distributor Mix 1 Life has begun shipping Jim Beam snack products to all Speedway stores. The chain has more than 2,700 convenience stores in 22 states.

"We are honored to partner with Speedway," said Jerry Dellaportas, CEO of Mix 1 Life, Scottsdale, Ariz. The company said it expects to generate $6 million in revenue in convenience-store sales in 2017, primarily around the snacks-brand partnerships it added in October with the acquisition of BrandMark Products Inc.

Speedway stores are receiving Jim Beam sunflower seeds, and Mix 1 is working through McLane and Eby-Brown, Dellaportas said. "Speedway was the first convenience chain to give us a chance," he said. His company has been distributing branded nut snacks in grocery chains, and plans to begin distributing the Jim Beam beef jerky products in the convenience channel starting in first quarter 2017.

Jim Beam Sunflower SeedsJim Beam snacks are roasted with a touch of bourbon to infuse them with flavor. Varieties include nuts, sunflower seeds and meat snacks.

Mix 1 Life is a public holding company that acquires exclusive distribution rights from major brands, providing outsourced manufacturing and global distribution of their products. Current snack brands include Jim Beam, Sauza Tequila and Canadian Club. The company also has two products in the beverage space, the energy drink No Fear (formerly owned by Pepsi) and its own proprietary nutritional product Mix 1 (formerly owned by Hershey's).

Speedway LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Marathon Petroleum Corp., with headquarters in Enon, Ohio.
