Stewart's Shops Introduces Private-Label Candy Bars

Rolls out two flavors at 99-cent price point

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Convenience store chain and ice-cream purveyor Stewart's Shops has branched out from its ice cream roots to roll out chocolate candy bars, the company has announced on its website and on social media.

Based on two of its more popular ice cream flavors, the retailer has introduced the "Stewart's Great Flavors" bars in two varieties: Stewart's Great Flavors: Premium Milk Chocolate with Creamy Peanut Butter Stewart's Great Flavors: Premium Milk Chocolate with Buttery Caramel Each comes in a two-ounce size, selling for 99 cents each.

"In their first full week on the shelves, we sold 101 Stewart's private-label 99-cent candy bars per shop--58% caramel, 42% peanut butter," Stewart's president Gary Dake said on Twitter.

Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-based Stewart's Shops is an employee- and family-owned convenience store chain. It is known for milk, ice cream, coffee, food to go, gasoline and more. There are 328 Stewart's Shops located in more than 30 counties across upstate New York and southern Vermont.
