SweeTarts Debuts Sour Gummies

2 contests accompany the product launch

ARLINGTON, Va. -- SweeTarts has launched a new chewy line of candies. SweeTarts Gummies are available now to retailers nationwide. The chewy candies come in 4-ounce, 5.25-ounce and 10-ounce packages for suggested retail prices ranging from $1.69 and $1.99.

The SweeTarts Gummies come in both sweet and sour fruity flavors and several shapes, including a turntable, a virtual-reality headset and a rocket ship.

“After recently surveying more than 1,000 college students and learning that more than 76% prefer gummy candies over chewy, hard or licorice candy formats, we knew our fans would be thrilled to try our new Gummies offerings,” said Benjamin Jones, marketing associate with SweeTarts.

The brand has created two fan-based contests to accompany the launch. Its “Search for the Next Gummy Shape” competition encourages fans to come up with the next gummy shape. The winning shape will appear in future packages of the treats, and the fan who suggested it will receive a year’s worth of SweeTarts Gummies. Consumers have until July 22 to submit shape ideas via the SweeTarts website.

In the brand’s “Shape Your Passion” sweepstakes, consumers use various gummy shapes to answer questions about their hobbies for the chance to win $10,000 or one of many prizes. This competition runs through Aug. 20, and consumers may enter by visiting the brand’s website or uploading a photo to Instagram or Twitter using the hashtag #ShapeYourPassionSweepstakes.

SweeTarts is part of the Willy Wonka Candy Co., which is owned by Arlington, Va.-based Nestle USA. The SweeTarts product portfolio includes Original SweeTarts, SweeTarts Soft & Chewy Ropes, SweeTarts Gummies and SweeTarts Chewy.
