What Cookie Won the Oreo Taste Test?

The Verge talks eatabilty, repeatability

DEERFIELD, Ill. -- In early February, Mondelez International Inc. rolled out limited-edition Red Velvet Oreos. While line extensions have offered many filling flavors, this new variety features a completely new cookie flavor and color for the first time since the debut of the Golden Oreo in 2004.

In the past few years, there have been 35 variations of Oreo on store shelves, according to a report by The Verge. The pop culture website recently rounded up 18 varieties of "milk's best friend" for a taste test. It divided the Oreos into three categories: The classics, the fruits and the desserts ("the most ambitious Oreos--the ones that either shouldn't exist or transcend the Oreo experience into something greater than it was before").

It also conducted a poll asking "What is the best Oreo of all time?"

Classic Oreo and its close sibling Double Stuf were the clear leaders in the poll. Golden Oreo came in only at sixth place, after Birthday Cake, Mint and Mega Stuf. (The poll was conducted before the debut of Red Velvet Oreos.)

[Editor's Note: In this editor's humble opinion, Golden Oreos are by far the best Oreos.]
