Every Comment Counts

Submit Comments on the FDA Deeming Regulations
MINNEAPOLIS -- As of yesterday, 54,233 individual comments have been submitted to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on the proposed tobacco deeming regulations by retailers, wholesalers, manufacturers, adult tobacco consumers, health organizations, anti-tobacco advocates and others.  Submitting comments to the FDA on the deeming regulations is one of the most important efforts that every segment of the tobacco industry can do to inform the agency about the impact of the proposed tobacco restrictions on cigars, pipe tobacco, electronic cigarettes, hookah tobacco, nicotine gels, and dissolvables.

With just over three weeks left to submit comments by the FDA’s submission deadline of August 8, 2014, now is the time for tobacco retailers, wholesalers, and manufacturers to draft and submit comments to the FDA. If you have already submitted your comments, I extend a sincere thank you for your participation in this important effort. If you have yet to submit your comments, it is important to understand that the FDA staff is required to read every comment submitted and consider each and every comment in the rulemaking process used to finalize the deeming tobacco regulations. This means that every comment counts and will be considered by the FDA staff.
