NATO Show to Offer Exceptional Seminars

The 2013 NATO Show will be held April 22-24, 2013, at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas, and the line up of seminars will provide retail and wholesale attendees with an exceptional educational opportunity. As a part of NATO's continuing dialogue with the FDA on federal tobacco regulations, Dr. Lawrence Deyton, the director of the FDA's Center for Tobacco Products, and Ann Simoneau, the Director of the Office of Enforcement and Compliance, will be participants on a panel with NATO board member and Smoker Friendly retailer Mary Szarmach and myself to discuss the most current and pending federal retail tobacco regulations. The panel discussion will be an excellent opportunity to hear directly from Dr. Deyton and Ann Simoneau about administration of federal tobacco regulations and learn about NATO's point of view on these same regulations.

The NATO Show keynote speaker will be Dick Morris, political consultant and commentator on Fox News channel, who will speak on the post-election political landscape and how actions by lawmakers may challenge or benefit the tobacco industry.

In addition, NATO legislative staff members Jackie Cohen and Tim McKinney will present a seminar on the actions NATO takes to respond to local, state and federal tobacco-related legislation on behalf of association members and why it is so critical for retailers, wholesalers and manufacturers to become active in the legislative process.  Also, Bonnie Herzog, the managing director of beverage, tobacco and consumer research for Wells Fargo Securities, will translate for attendees how the economy's volatility impacts tobacco products today along with explaining the data, trends and evolution in tobacco's product mix.

Other seminar topics for attendees to choose from include a presentations titled (1) "Channel Blending: Convenience and the Tobacco Outlet" which looks at the trend among tobacco stores to offer products often associated more with the convenience store market segment, (2) "Size Doesn't Matter: You Deserve Good Wholesale Service", will explore how to create collaborative alliances with your wholesaler to assist with consistent pricing, product variety and accurate report, and (3) "Demystifying Electronic Cigarettes," with discussion topics including chargeable versus disposable e-cigarettes, reliability and product quality, cartridge ingredients and the vaping experience.
