Republic Tobacco Rolls Out TubeCut

Expands Gambler line in shadow of SCHIP tax increases
GLENVIEW, Ill. -- Multinational wholesaler, distributor and retailer Republic Tobacco LP has expanded the Gambler line of bagged cigarette tobacco with TubeCut, a premium tobacco made especially for tube cigarette making. TubeCut offers better volume than any other roll-your-own (RYO) or make-your-own (MYO) cigarette tobacco, the company said.

The introduction of TubeCut comes as smokers are anticipating the tobacco tax increases legislated by the expansion of the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). (Click here for previous CSP Daily News coverage.)

"Today's smokers are looking for greater value," said Steve Sandman, vice president of sales and marketing for Glenview, Ill.-based Republic Tobacco. "With TubeCut, smokers will get a better tube cigarette every time and more cigarettes per ounce of tobacco. It's not only a value for smokers that make their own cigarettes, even purchasers of premade cigarettes can get a smoke that's closer to their current choice."

TubeCut tobacco from Gambler will be available in four convenient sizes: resealable pouches and small- , medium- and large-sized bags with five flavor profiles, Full Flavor, Menthol, Light, Ultra Light and Turkish. Pouches are packed a dozen 12-count sleeves per case. Bags will pack 12 large per case, 36 medium per case and 72 small per case.

Cigarette filter tubes, available in 200 count boxes of Full Flavor and Light king and 100mm sizes plus injectors complete the TubeCut brand line. Filter tubes are packed 50 boxes per case. Handheld king size and 100mm injectors are packed six per display box; four displays per case.

Republic Tobacco is wholly owned by Republic Group, which also includes the manufacturer affiliates of Top Tobacco, Republic Technologies (JOB Cigarette Papers), Altesse GMBH (filter tubes), H.T.H. Tabak (cigarettes, snuff, and tobacco) and Productos Technologicos Catalanes (smoking accessories), representing a combined sales and distribution presence in more than 90 countries.
