BOSTON — Ocean Spray Cranberries Inc. is the latest consumer packaged goods (CPG) company to invest in the cannabidiol (CBD) product space, launching a new line of CBD-infused sparkling waters branded CarryOn. The brand was developed by the company’s Lighthouse Incubator, which focuses on the acceleration of “accessible health and wellness-focused innovation” according to a company press release.

“We understood there was a gap in the market for a trustworthy CBD beverage that tastes good and also helps calm the mind without unwanted side effects,” said Josh Wiesman, co-developer of Boston-based CarryOn. “So, we set out to solve that gap with the CarryOn brand.”

The company cites data that more than 56% of Americans currently report negative effects on their mental wellbeing. The brand is primarily focused on the positive effects CBD might have on mental health.

“We believe mental wellbeing should be as second nature as physical fitness, and so we set out to create a CBD beverage that provides real functional benefits like focus and relaxation,” said Wiesman.

CarryOn is available in two flavors: Elevate is aimed at keeping people “calm but sharp” through a blend of choline for focus and 10mg of CBD; Descend is designed for “relaxation with no impairment” with a combination of L-Theanine for relaxation and 20mg of CBD. Both come in 11.5-ounce cans, with 10 calories per-serving and no added sugar.

For now, CarryOn products are only available in Colorado as part of a pilot test.
