DES MOINES, Iowa — Fast-growing convenience chain Yesway has taken on a procurement and vetting partner for cannabidiol (CBD) products to help it navigate the quickly evolving category, the company has announced.

  • Yesway ranked No. 17on the Top 40 update to CSP’s 2019 Top 202 ranking of U.S. c-store chains by number of retail outlets. CSP will release the complete 2020 list in June.

Des Moines, Iowa-based Yesway is partnering with BettermentRS, which will provide the chain with procurement, distribution and training in the CBD space. West Des Moines, Iowa-based BettermentRS offers infrastructure solutions for both CBD manufacturers and retailers, using its market knowledge and vetting process to identify products and provide distribution logistics.

Currently, BettermentRS is supplying 17 CBD products across six brands into Yesway c-stores, including CBD Living, Eco Sciences, Apis Mercantile, Cannadips, Vance Global and King Karl.

“Yesway being new to the CBD category, BettermentRS has been an invaluable partner in helping guide me and our merchandising team in identifying the highest-quality products in the industry,” said Alan Adato, procurement manager for Yesway. “In addition, Dorsey Sparks works closely with our store associates to provide training, education and merchandising support.”

Sparks, president of BettermentRS, said Yesway’s plans for CBD packaged beverages and snacks “aligns with our vision.”

Founded in 2018, BettermentRS is a supply-chain provider for the health and wellness industry, connecting emerging hemp brands with retailers, the company said. Its goal is to find the best products for retailers through thoughtful sourcing and distribution of top-tier and emerging brands, officials said.
