
Refuel steps up after Texas floods: After deadly flash floods hit Texas on July 4, many convenience retailers stepped up to help with donations. North Charleston, South Carolina-based Refuel Operating Co. LLC employees were on the ground assisting in the aftermath of the floods. Teams helped local volunteers and first responders by delivering hot meals, clean water, snacks and essential supplies to those in need, the c-store chain said in a LinkedIn post on Monday. Refuel has nearly 500 team members who call Central Texas home. —Hannah Hammond
Every drop counts: Ever wonder how much gas is spilt when you fill up your tank at a gas station? A viral YouTube clip from Zack D. Films has gone viral explaining just that. According to Zack D. Films “if you collected every drop from every gas station in the United States, you'd have around 37,000 gallons. That's enough to drive a car around the entire planet nearly 30 times.” The posting piqued viewers' interest as it garnered over 5 million views. One user figured out what these drops would add up to and it is not a drop in the bucket. “For anyone wondering, you could sell all the gas you collect and make over $100k,” a user commented. —Diane Adam

Turn your parking lot into profit: L-Charge, an off-grid electric vehicle charger company based in Sunnyvale, California, has teamed up with Epic Charging, a Menlo Park, California-based company that makes software for managing EV stations. With L-Charge’s mobile chargers and Epic’s built-in card readers and payment system, you can turn part of your lot into a charging stop. “If you have land with parking space, we can evaluate its utilization and deploy a trial charging station. Off to the races.Dandy Mini Marts, Sayre, Pennsylvania, which recently was named the official convenience-store of the Watkins Glen International speedway, has opened Trackside Dandy, a new convenience store at the racetrack in Watkins Glen, New York. It is open only during racing events. “We’re stocked with all the food and drink, camp and 21+ product essentials,” the retailer also announced on Facebook. “We’re honored to be named the official convenience store of WGI and look forward to giving race fans the chance to enjoy the Dandy experience right at the track,” Dyson Williams, vice president of Dandy, said on Instagram. —Greg Lindenberg
