9 C-Store Chains Earn Spots on America’s Greatest Workplaces for Diversity 2025 List

The convenience-store retailers are joined by several industry wholesalers in respecting and valuing DEI

Nine convenience-store chains and several c-store industry distributors and sales services firms are among the companies highlighted on Newsweek magazine’s America’s Greatest Workplaces for Diversity 2025.

Newsweek partnered with Plant-A Insights Group, Brooklyn, New York, to compile this alphabetical ranking that features U.S. companies in several size categories that respect and value diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) as reflected in anonymous feedback from their employees and other data.

Companies received a 5-, 4.5- or 4-star rating as an editorial judgement, according to the methodology.

The convenience-store retailers (withCSP 2024 Top 202 rankings) include:

  • Casey’s General Stores, Ankeny, Iowa (No. 3)★★★★

  • Cumberland Farms, Westborough, Massachusetts (No. 5)★★★★

  • Kwik Trip, La Crosse, Wisconsin (No. 11)★★★★

  • Maverik, Salt Lake City, Utah (No. 12)★★★★

  • Murphy USA, El Dorado, Arkansas (No. 4)★★★★½

  • Pilot Flying J, Knoxville, Tennessee (No. 15)★★★★½

  • QuikTrip, Tulsa, Oklahoma (No. 9)★★★★

  • RaceTrac, Atlanta (No. 17)★★★★½

  • Wawa, Wawa, Pennsylvania (No. 9)★★★★

Discount retailers Dollar General (★★★★) and Dollar Tree (★★★★) and drug store chain Walgreens (★★★★½) also made the list.

The wholesalers and sales services companies include:

The study accessed publicly accessible data; discussions and interviews with human resources professionals; and large-scale confidential online surveys conducted among employees from U.S. companies that employ more than 1,000 employees in 2024.

Survey respondents provided insights and experiences on corporate culture, working conditions and other aspects of their current employer and other companies they are familiar with. The study incorporates more than 339,000 employee interviews and more than 4.8 million comprehensive company reviews collected in the last three years.
