BJ’s Wholesale Club announced Friday the launch of Texas operations with the Forney club’s grand opening set for April 24. The gas station opens Friday, April 17.
To celebrate the milestone, the new BJ’s Gas location, at 11150 E U.S. Highway 80 in Forney, will offer members gas at $2 per gallon for one day only on Wednesday, April 22, from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The promotional price applies to regular gas and has a 30-gallon limit.
Bob Eddy, chairman and CEO of BJ’s Wholesale Club, said launching Texas operations was a milestone for the retailer.
“We’re energized by the enthusiasm we’ve seen in the community and are eager to welcome families to BJ’s,” Eddy said.
The Forney location will be BJ’s 264th club and 202nd gas station. The company plans to open three more Texas clubs in Waxahachie, Southwest Fort Worth and Grand Prairie, in the coming weeks.
Earlier in the month BJ’s Wholesale Club announced it was extending store hours. Clubs and gas stations are now open until 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 p.m. on Sundays.
The Marlborough, Massachusetts-based retailer’s decision follows similar moves by competitors Sam’s Club and Costco. Issaquah, Washington-based Costco extended its store hours on June 30, 2025, allowing executive members to begin shopping at 9 a.m. daily. Closing times were also adjusted, with all members now able to shop until 7 p.m. on Saturdays, an hour later than the previous 6 p.m. closing time.
Sam’s Club, owned by Bentonville, Arkansas-based Walmart, changed its store hours last October in response to customer feedback. Stores now operate from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., an expansion from the previous hours of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Additionally, holiday hours were extended for Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, and New Year’s Eve, with locations staying open until 8 p.m. instead of closing at 6 p.m.
