Buc-ee’s will break ground on its first North Carolina travel center on June 10. The site is located at 1425 Trollingwood Hawfields Road in Mebane.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will be at 10 a.m. and Mayor Ed Hooks and other elected officials are scheduled to attend, the mega-convenience store chain said.
Buc-ee’s Mebane location will occupy 74,000 square feet and offer 120 fueling positions.
“For our first North Carolina store, we’ve landed in the best location possible,” said Stan Beard, Buc-ee's director of real estate and development. “Mebane has all the things that makes Buc-ee's a positively charming pit stop: great leadership, wonderful community and a beautiful stretch of I-40/85.”

Buc-ee’s signature offerings, including Texas barbecue, fudge, kolaches, Beaver Nuggets, jerky and fresh pastries will all be available. Along with the snacks, beverages and meal options, the chain is known for its clean restrooms.
Buc-ee’s said its Mebane location will bring nearly 200 full-time jobs to the area, with starting pay beginning “well above” minimum wage, full benefits, a 6% matching 401(k) and three weeks of paid vacation.
Since 2024, Buc-ee’s has broken ground on its first locations in Ohio, Arkansas, Arizona, Kansas and Louisiana.
Founded in 1982, Lake Jackson, Texas-based Buc-ee’s has more than 50 stores.
