Buc-ee’s is stepping up its growth in the Midwest and eyeing a new state: Indiana.

The Texas convenience-store chain is eyeing multiple locations in the Hoosier State, Mickey Shuey, real estate, tourism and sports business reporter for the Indianapolis Business Journal (IBJ), posted on X Thursday.

Buc-ee’s is “circling Johnson County for its first Indiana location, with a site off interstate 65,” Shuey reported on the social media platform.

Johnson County is part of the larger Indianapolis metropolitan area, which includes the city of Greenwood.

In an updated post Thursday evening, Shuey said on X that “sources have confirmed that in addition to the Buc-ee’s store planned for Greenwood—news broken by @IBJnews this afternoon—the company has landed on Whitestown for a future second location.” Whitestown is located in Boone County.

Buc-ee's did not immediately respond to CSP Daily News' request for comment, and the city of Greenwood declined to comment.

Growth in the Midwest for the Buc-ee’s includes other states as well. On Sept. 25 Buc-ee’s Ltd. received final approval from the Oak Creek Plan Commission to build a travel center along Interstate 94 in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, a spokesperson for the commission told CSP Daily News. Oak Creek is on the shore of Lake Michigan, about 20 miles south of Milwaukee and about 85 miles north of Chicago.

On the retailer’s website regarding new store openings, Buc-ee’s lists an estimated opening date of 2026 for another Midwest location of Huber Heights, Ohio.

  • Buc-ee’s is No. 136 on CSP’s 2025 Top 202 ranking of U.S. convenience-store chains by store count.

Founded in 1982, Buc-ee’s is known for its large number of fueling positions, clean bathrooms, food, snacks, apparel and a wide range of other merchandise.
