Mega-convenience-store chain Buc-ee’s Ltd. officially opened the doors to its first Virginia location on Monday.

Located at 6500 Buc-ee’s Boulevard in Mount Crawford, near Friedens Church Road and Interstate-81, the new 74,000-square-foot facility represents Buc-ee’s most northeastern expansion.

“I’m proud to give Buc-ee’s a warm Virginia welcome as they open the next chapter of their story here in Virginia, bringing 200 jobs and an investment of more than $60 million into Rockingham County,” said Gov. Glenn Youngkin in a statement.

  • Buc-ee’s is No. 136 on CSP’s 2025 Top 202 ranking of U.S. convenience-store chains by store count.

Buc-ee’s CEO and Founder Beaver Aplin said that he was “very pleased” to have the governor attend the grand opening.

“When he attended the groundbreaking a little over a year ago, he told me he would be back for the ribbon cutting and in Gov. Youngkin fashion, he did exactly what he said. We look forward to more Buc-ee’s in Virginia,” Aplin said in a statement from the governor’s office.

The Lake Jackson, Texas-based retailer on Tuesday opened its third location in Georgia, a 74,000-square-foot store with 120 fueling positions.  It is the chain's 54th location.

“Brunswick is a natural stop between our Florida and South Carolina locations; on a stretch of interstate near the beautiful Georgia coastline. The community has welcomed us with open arms, and we are excited to finally get started here,” said Stan Beard, director of real estate for Buc-ee's.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Buc-ee’s to our community with the opening of their newest store right here in Glynn County,” the Golden Isles Development Authority posted on Facebook.

The Brunswick store is located at 6900 Highway 99.

Founded in 1982, Buc-ee’s is known for its large number of fueling positions, clean bathrooms, food, snacks, apparel and a wide range of other merchandise.
