Buc-ee’s will open the doors to its newest Texas travel center on Aug. 12.

The site, located along Interstate 35 at 3245 North in San Marcos, will open at 6 a.m. At 10 a.m., there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Buc-ee’s San Marcos will occupy 74,000 square feet and offer 128 fueling positions. Buc-ee’s new location will bring around 200 new jobs to the area, the company said.

With the opening of its San Marcos location, Buc-ee's will operate 57 stores across the United States, with locations in Texas, Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia

“The Buc-ee's mantra is ‘exceed expectations,’ and this San Marcos location is a special step for us in that regard,” said Stan Beard, director of real estate and development of Buc-ee’s. “The San Marcos store will help us provide the ultimate Buc-ee's experience to all I-35 travelers, north and southbound!”

Buc-ee’s signature offerings, including barbeque, fudge, kolaches, Beaver Nuggets, jerky and fresh pastries will all be available, as well as apparel featuring mascot Bucky the Beaver. Along with the snacks, beverages and meal options, the chain is known for its clean restrooms.

The Lake Jackson, Texas-based chain recently started construction on its first Wisconsin location. The travel center is located in the city of Oak Creek and is expected to open in early 2028, according to a post on the city of Oak Creek government Facebook page.

Oak Creek is on the shore of Lake Michigan, about 13 miles south of downtown Milwaukee and about 85 miles north of Chicago.
