The Des Moines event space formerly known as Wells Fargo Arena officially has a new name, one that shines a megawatt spotlight on a hometown convenience retailer: Casey’s Center.
The name change at the Iowa Events Center took effect Tuesday, though Casey’s General Stores’ 10-year naming rights partnership with the operators of the 15,000-seat multi-purpose sports and entertainment venue was first announced in October.
The retailer will pay about $18.3 million over the next decade for the naming rights, according to reports.
Casey’s name is emblazoned in red letters throughout the building’s interior and exterior (including on top of the roof).
But its brand footprint will extend to the arena’s concession stands as well. Casey’s signature pizzas (the chain bills itself as the operator of the country’s fifth-largest pizza chain) will be for sale throughout the venue, as will snacks from the c-store retailer. A Casey’s-branded grab-and-go stand is being added.
CEO Darren Rebelez called Casey’s Center “a major milestone” in the company’s journey.
“It’s more than just a name on the building (and the roof!),” Rebelez posted on LinkedIn Tuesday. “It’s a powerful signal of where we’re headed as a company and as a brand.”
Ankeny, Iowa-based Casey’s employs more than 11,000 workers in Iowa and has nearly 2,900 stores in 19 states.
“Casey’s is growing like never before,” Rebelez added. “And now, we’ll be at the center of it all—from championship games to A-list concerts and unforgettable community moments.”
- Casey’s General Stores Inc. is No. 3 on CSP’s 2025 Top 202 ranking of convenience-store chains by store count.
Last year, Casey’s celebrated the chain’s first-of-its-kind naming rights partnership by offering $1 pizza slices at Des Moines-area Casey’s locations on Oct. 21 for rewards members.
Casey’s Rewards points can’t, however, be earned or redeemed at Casey’s Center.
The arena is home to the Iowa Wild AHL hockey team, Iowa Wolves NBA G-League basketball team and the Iowa Barnstormers IFL football team.
