ANKENY, Iowa — To encourage COVID-19 vaccination, Casey’s General Stores Inc. is providing a wellness bonus of $50 to team members who complete the full dosage of the vaccine.

The convenience-store retailer said it supports the efforts to vaccinate frontline workers and is encouraging its employees to get the vaccine when it is available to them.

Early in the pandemic, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) designated truckstop workers, along with convenience, retail fuel and foodservice workers, as essential under its Essential Critical Infrastructure Workers Guidance.

“For the past year, we have battled through the challenges and complexities of the pandemic. I couldn’t be prouder of our team members’ resilience and continued commitment to Casey’s and our guests,” said Darren Rebelez, president and CEO, Casey’s. “I also know that brighter days are ahead because there is a vaccine becoming available to more people each day. We are an essential, frontline organization and our team members’ safety remains the top priority. That’s why Casey’s is strongly recommending team members receive the COVID-19 vaccination.”

To show appreciation and support for the employees during the pandemic, in March 2020, Casey’s gave all full-time and part-time store employees an additional $2 per hour during this time. Managers, supervisors and trainers received an additional $100 per week. Casey’s also offered store employees additional flex time and implemented an additional paid leave program for team members who are required to quarantine or who test positive for COVID-19 and are unable to work remotely.

Ankeny, Iowa-based Casey’s operates more than 2,200 c-stores in 16 states.
