Convenience Retailing University ‘Decodes the Consumer’

Agenda will help retailers navigate challenges, capitalize on opportunities

CHICAGO -- More than 500 convenience-store retail executives, including category managers, senior marketing executives and managing directors, will attend the Convenience Retailing University (CRU) event, Feb. 22-24, 2016, at the Renaissance Glendale Hotel & Spa in Glendale, Ariz.

CRU’s format fosters the information exchange between key creative leaders and their supplier partners in order to strategize together on the future of convenience retailing and help build superior c-stores.

“Decoding the Consumer” is the theme for 2017 and is reflected in an agenda that will help retailers navigate today’s challenges and capitalize on opportunities.

“The networking is terrific! I love the small format and the varied breakout sessions,” said previous attendee Ruth Anne Lilly, senior category manager for Sunoco Inc.

At CRU, attendees will find that no two speakers or sessions are the same. The event will cover a magnitude of timely topics from natural/organic, selling at the pump and chef-driven menus to disruptive forces, social media and cannabis. Some prominent speakers include:

  • George Blankenship, former executive for Tesla Motors, Apple Computer and Gap Inc.
  • Jeremy Gutsche, CEO of Trendhunter.com, award-winning innovator and author of “Better and Faster.”
  • Jim Knight, business culture catalyst, former Hard Rock International executive and author of “Culture That Rocks!”
  • Larry Levin, executive vice president of business development for IRI Innovation.
  • Brian Little, scholar in the department of psychology of Cambridge University.
  • Joshua Swanson, CEO, GTMA, chairman of Razz Interactive and digital marketing consultant.
