7-Eleven, Circle K and Pilot are among the convenience-store retailers establishing relief initiatives as the fires in the Los Angeles area continue to burn, despite the ongoing efforts of firefighters, first responders and others.
At least 24 people have been reported dead as of Wednesday, according to Cal Fire. It said that more than 40,660 acres and more than 12,300 structures have burned.
7-Eleven
“Our thoughts are with those affected by the California wildfires, and our gratitude goes out to the first responders for their heroic efforts,” 7-Eleven Inc. said in response to an inquiry from CSP.
“7-Eleven is committed to supporting the customers and communities we serve. We are incredibly proud of the franchisees and store leaders who continue to serve customers during this incredibly difficult time,” the Irving, Texas-based retailer said. “7-Eleven Inc. and the 7-Eleven Cares Foundation are supporting the recovery for this tragedy through a variety of initiatives including providing water and food to community groups and first responders in the area, matching the donations to the American Red Cross California Wildfires Relief Fund by employees and franchisees up to $100,000, and our annual contribution to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief fund.”
Circle K
Circle K, the c-store brand of Laval, Quebec-based Alimentation Couche-Tard, is supporting the American Red Cross to help local communities. The convenience-store brand will offer 40 cents off per gallon on fuel on Jan.16, from 4 to 7 p.m., donating a portion of the proceeds from the three-hour event to the Red Cross relief efforts in California.
More than 240 Circle K locations across California, Oregon and Washington will participate.
“These wildfires have affected so many lives across our community so close after the holidays,” said George Wilkins, vice president of operations for Circle K's West Coast business unit, which is based in Corona, California. “This is why it’s important for us to dedicate this fuel event to supporting the relief and recovery efforts, and we’re thankful for our partnership with the American Red Cross here on the West Coast.”
Pilot
Pilot Co., to support California wildfire relief, is donating $100,000 to the American Red Cross.
“If you are looking for ways to help, we encourage you to contribute to the wildfire relief efforts of the American Red Cross California Wildfires, Pasadena Humane Society, Salvation Army Southern California Division, California Community Foundation Wildfire Recovery Fund or the California Fire Foundation, the Knoxville, Tennessee-based company said on LinkedIn.
California Fuels & Convenience Alliance
And as reported earlier, the California Fuels & Convenience Alliance (CFCA) said it is working with the Fuel Relief Fund to provide critical resources and emergency fuel to affected communities.
Dion & Sons, a fuel distributor and CFCA member, is delivering thousands of gallons of fuel to base camps supporting firefighting operations and emergency responders for the Palisades and Hurst wildfires and helping to ensure that first responders have the resources they need to protect lives and property during this state of emergency.
