The Wills Group will enter its fourth state next year with a new Dash In convenience store in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Dash In Food Stores Inc. has purchased a 3.29-acre outparcel at 9930 N. Tryon St. from Plaza Street Fund 126 LLC for an undisclosed price, according to Mecklenburg County property records first cited by the Charlotte Business Journal. Prairie Village, Kansas-based Plaza Street purchased that property in July 2021 for $1.9 million.
The Wills Group currently has Dash In convenience stores in Maryland, Virginia and Delaware.
“We are excited about expanding into North Carolina next year,” Rayma Alexander, director of corporate communications for The Wills Group, told CSP. “We've acquired land to build our first 5,600-square-foot Dash In store in Charlotte near UNC Charlotte and will have subsequent builds in North Carolina thereafter."
Dash In will break ground on the North Carolina store this spring or early summer, she said.
The Wills Group has filed a land construction development plan with the city of Charlotte that includes a new convenience store, gas pumps with canopy, car wash and parking lot.
The Wills Group’s Dash In is No. 120 on CSP’s 2024 Top 202 ranking of U.S. convenience-store chains by store count.
Based in La Plata, Maryland, and family owned since 1926, The Wills Group has nearly 300 retail locations across the Mid-Atlantic region, including Dash In convenience stores, Splash In Eco car washes and the SMO Motor Fuels retail petroleum distribution and fuel convenience center network.
