BYRON CENTER, Mich. -- At 8,200 square feet, new J&H Family Store locations are more than convenience stores. Sure, they're a place to fuel up and get in and out quickly with a drink or snack. But they're also mini-grocery stores, a place to have lunch and a place to gather in the community. Even the chain's signature beverage, frozen Apple Cider Slush, celebrates the prized apples that grow in nearby orchards.
"We strive to find ways to support the communities that support us," says Misty Steinhauer, who heads up purchasing and retail store branding for the Wyoming, Mich.-based chain of 50 convenience stores.
