Kangaroo Express Unveils 19 Remodeled Stores

The Pantry adding QSRs, redesigned sites in multiple markets

CARY, N.C. -- Kangaroo Express' "New at the Roo" program added 19 additional stores to its lineup of new store offerings and appearance upgrades. Ten stores in the Piedmont-Triad, N.C., area and nine stores in the Orlando, Fla., market now feature the updated Bean Street Coffee offers and a broader assortment of fresh foods.

To celebrate its investment in the communities, Kangaroo Express stores throughout the areas will be celebrating with special offers, fun family activities and a total of $20,000 in donations, including $10,000 to Vandalia Elementary School, East Forsyth High School Band, Surry Central High School Band and Smith High School Band in North Carolina, and another $10,000 to Florida schools and youth organizations Neptune Middle School and the Osceola Family Sports Association.

As part of the “New at the Roo” program, participating stores will feature upgraded Bean Street Coffee dispensers, designed to preserve the freshness of the coffee. The spacious serving stations will have upgraded coffee accessories, including a wide variety of coffee flavors and additions such as extra boosts of caffeine and whipped topping, allowing guests to customize their cup of Bean Street Coffee.

“Investing to bring new offers to our Piedmont-Triad area stores is just one part of Kangaroo Express’ commitment to local Piedmont-Triad communities,” said Kevin Portis, regional sales director at Kangaroo Express. “We invite the community to bring their Bean Street Coffee Roo Mugs to join us for fun family celebrations and experience what’s new at The Roo to better serve the on-the-go needs of our Piedmont-Triad guests.” A similar invitation was made in Orlando.

In addition to improved Bean Street Coffee, guests at participating stores will be able to enjoy newly offered iced tea and a broader assortment of fresh pastries for on-the-go breakfast and snacks. The new bakery case features glazed donuts, which are almost 40% larger than well-known brands, doughnut holes, muffins, cheese danishes and more.

Guests can take advantage of month-long specials and promotions, including coupons valid at all participating Kangaroo Express locations.

“New at the Roo” celebrations are planned for the stores, including presenting the donations to the various schools and organizations. At the Pleasant Garden Road in North Carolina, the store now features an Aunt M’s Kitchen, an exclusive quick-service restaurant concept found only at Kangaroo Express stores. The restaurant offers guests a taste of home cooking with a variety of on-the-go breakfast, lunch and dinner options, including seasoned fried chicken, fresh sandwiches and biscuits, hearty sides and warm desserts.

The renovations to these stores are prime examples of the investments Kangaroo Express is making in its communities across the Southeastern United States, according to the company, including plans to open more quick-serve restaurants in stores and remodel more than 70 stores.

As of Aug. 6, 2013, The Pantry operated 1,559 stores in 13 states under select banners, including its primary operating banner Kangaroo Express.  The Pantry is one of the nation’s largest convenience store chains and the leading independently operated chain in the southeastern United States. The Pantry is based in Cary, N.C.
