DES MOINES, Iowa — Convenience-store retailer Kum & Go LC has named consumer packaged goods industry veteran Jeff Shamburger vice president of foodservice.

Shamburger has been tasked with enhancing, innovating and driving a progressive food culture in his new role at Kum & Go, the company said. He is also responsible for identifying new food trends based on customer feedback and competitive insights to drive food as a major growth strategy for the company.

“Jeff has a rare mix of talents that he brings to Kum & Go,” said Tanner Krause, president of Kum & Go. “He has launched new concepts; led product innovation; held profit-and-loss responsibility; and led broad, diverse teams. I am excited to see where he takes our food program.”

Prior to joining Kum & Go, Shamburger held brand marketing and product innovation roles with Wendy’s, Burger King, Nestle USA and Papa Murphy’s Take ‘N’ Bake Pizza. In December 2018, Shamburger founded JS Brand Consulting, his personal consulting business.

“Kum & Go has great brand awareness and a strong loyal following, so focusing on enhancements to the foodservice experience in ways that are relevant to customers is a logical move for the brand,” Shamburger said. “I look forward to joining the team and working to give customers yet another reason to head to the nearest Kum & Go.”

Based in Des Moines, Iowa, Kum & Go has nearly 400 stores in 11 states (Iowa, Arkansas, Colorado, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Wyoming). The company is No. 18 in CSP's 2019 Top 202 ranking of convenience-store chains by number of retail locations.
