OKLAHOMA CITY — Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores has hired Spencer Haines as its chief financial officer, effective Aug. 12.
Haines joins the Oklahoma City-based truckstop chain from McAfee & Taft, where for 15 years he was a shareholder for the law firm and where Love’s was a client. He has a breadth of experience in corporate tax planning; local, state and federal taxation; and tax structuring in a variety of industries, including energy and oil and gas.
“As Love’s continues our extensive growth, Spencer’s broad financial knowledge, visionary mindset and ability to anticipate challenges and opportunities will serve us well,” said Love’s President Shane Wharton. “Spencer’s sharp financial and legal mind will be an invaluable tool as we work to bring the best products and services to our loyal customers.”
Haines, selected after a national search, will report to Wharton, who was previously CFO. He will provide oversight and direction for Love’s financial operations, maintain the company’s strong financial profile and ensure continuous reinvestment into the business.
Haines has been a certified public accountant since 1999 and worked as a senior accountant with Arthur Anderson for three years before attending law school.
