Love’s opens new travel stop in San Antonio featuring a Whataburger

Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores has opened a new travel stop in San Antonio that features the company’s first Whataburger restaurant. 

The newest travel stop is Love’s 83rd store in Texas and is located off Interstate 410, at 9530 Southton Road, the company said in a news release Thursday. 

The travel center’s Whataburger restaurant will open May 4. The quick-service restaurant (QSR) features menu items like a Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit for breakfast, a patty melt and its namesake Whataburger. 

The new QSR partner was first announced by Love’s in January 2025. Love’s partners with more than 20 QSRs at its travel centers. It’s also adding more Buffalo Wild Wings Go locations. 

In 2025, Love’s introduced order-ahead capabilities at Arby’s, Hardee’s, Taco John’s, Bojangles and Carl’s Jr. It also added smart kiosks to Arby’s. It plans on expanding these this year after positive customer feedback, Love’s President Shane Wharton said in February. 

  • Love’s Travel Stops is tied for No. 14 on CSP’s 2026 Top 40 update to the 2025 Top 202 ranking of U.S. c-store chains by store count. Watch for the full 2026 Top 202 ranking in June. 

The San Antonio travel center is 14,954 square feet and features 70 truck parking spaces and 77 car parking spaces. It also has space allocated for EV chargers should customer demand rise, the company said. 

The new stop adds 50 jobs to the community and also features Love’s fresh food items, self-checkout options, a dog park, laundry facilities, seven showers, an RV dump and a CAT scale.
