FRANKLIN, Tenn. — MAPCO is providing paid time off for team members to get COVID-19 vaccines, the convenience-store retailer has announced.

This program affects the lives of MAPCO’s more than 3,200 employees at its nearly 340 locations in Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Arkansas, Virginia, Kentucky and Mississippi.

Upon completion of both COVID-19 vaccines, MAPCO is offering all hourly team members 8 hours of pay and salaried team members 8 hours added to their paid time off allotment upon completion of their vaccination schedule.

MAPCO’s CEO, Frederic Chaveyriat, battled COVID-19 in December 2020 and has taken a firm stance to fight COVID-19 and educate his employees.

All MAPCO stores employ rigorous and frequent disinfecting processes while closely following the latest information and guidelines from local, state and federal government agencies and health organizations, the company said. It installed plexiglass shields in every store and provided masks, gloves and hand sanitizer to all team members. Additionally, MAPCO has installed gloves at the fuel pumps as another step to help to stop the spread. To support social distancing efforts, the chain has limited store occupancy and has placed physical in-store indicators on floors to support appropriate distancing.

Along with its retail network, Franklin, Tenn.-based MAPCO, a subsidiary of energy conglomerate Compania de Petroleos de Chile (COPEC), Santiago, also operates a fuel logistics business comprised of more than 100 tankers and a fuel wholesale and fleet group serving more than 125 accounts.
