Maverik has rebranded more than 180 Kum & Go convenience stores across Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri, the Salt Lake City-based convenience-store chain told CSP.
In August 2023, Maverik completed its acquisition of Kum & Go from the Krause Group, adding about 400 locations to its portfolio.
- Maverik is No. 12 on CSP’s 2025 Top 40 update to the 2024 Top 202 ranking of U.S. c-store chains by store count. Watch for the full 2024 Top 202 ranking in the June issue of CSP magazine and in CSP Daily News.
“Rebrands in Arkansas and Missouri are still in progress, scheduled to conclude later this year,” said Megan Valentine, Maverik external communications specialist, adding that Maverik operates more than 800 stores across the combined Maverik and Kum & Go footprint.
Other ongoing rebrands and upcoming store reopenings, Maverik told CSP, include:
- In California, there are eight operating Maverik stores, and the new Lemoore Maverik location is scheduled for its grand opening April 24.
- In Kansas, there are two Maveriks, both in Garden City. One is open, one is slated for its grand opening April 17. Kansas is Maverik’s 21st state. Maverik’s new 5,982 square-foot store on East Acraway Avenue has truck and RV fueling lanes, an RV dump and a picnic area. The second location, a 4,425-square-foot store on East Mary Street, features an auto fuel forecourt and picnic area.
- In Arkansas, rebrands are in progress. More than 50 stores, both Maverik and Kum & Go, are currently operating in the state. In early May, Maverik will mark the completion of more than 25 rebrands in northwest Arkansas with a community event in Springdale, Arkansas.
- In Missouri, where rebrands also are in progress, there also are more than 50 stores currently operating in state under both brands.
- A new Maverik in Wyoming, Michigan, is scheduled for a grand opening April 24.
- Finally, in Oklahoma, Maverik recently completed 40 rebrands in the state.
“As we establish the Maverik brand in Kansas and continue rebranding stores across the region, we’re excited to introduce even more customers to the freshly prepared food, award-winning facilities and adventurous spirit that set Maverik apart. These milestones reflect our team’s ongoing commitment to delivering an unforgettable c-store experience from the Midwest to the West Coast," Crystal Maggelet, Maverik’s CEO, said.
Maverik has not revealed its schedule for rebranding Kum & Go locations in Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota. In November, a spokesperson said Maverik was in the process of rebranding all Kum & Go convenience stores, with the intent to unify its entire combined footprint under the Maverik brand.
On April 11, Valentine told CSP, “Select stores are in the process of being added or updated on our public location maps. Please note that store counts for both brands regularly fluctuate as we continue with rebrands and statuses of new and existing stores change. As previously shared, Maverik is taking a thoughtful, market-by-market approach to ensure the best customer experience before confirming plans in each state.”
Maverik has been nominated best gas station brand as well as best gas station food in the 2025 USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards. Voting is open until noon Eastern Daylight Time on Monday, May 5. Ten winners will be announced May 14.
