Convenience-store chain Maverik has hired Jaclyn Avrit as its chief of staff, she said in a LinkedIn post.

“The journey to this point has not been without its challenges,” Avrit wrote in her post on Tuesday. “There were moments when my path seemed uncertain, but each obstacle has taught me invaluable lessons about determination, growth and the importance of surrounding myself with the right people. The experiences we face shape us into the leaders we are meant to become.”

A Glassdoor posting for the position said the chief of staff serves as a “strategic partner and trusted advisor to the COO, enabling the effectiveness of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and driving enterprise-level priorities forward.”

The position “blends strategic planning, cross-functional coordination and operational execution to ensure alignment and impact across the organization,” the posting continued.

Avrit comes from Sandy, Utah-based Destination Homes, where she was executive administrator from March 2023 to this month, according to her LinkedIn page. Prior to that, Avrit, who earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and exercise science from California State University, Chico, was at the University of Utah, according to her LinkedIn page. She was there from September 2020 to March 2023. Her last position there was operations manager.

“I want to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to those who have impacted my career thus far," Avrit’s LinkedIn post continued. "Your influence has been instrumental in my development, and I carry your lessons with me as I embark on this new adventure. At Maverik, I look forward to working alongside a talented team and contributing to our mission of innovation and excellence.”

Maverik last month rebranded its last two Kum & Go convenience stores. Maverik in August 2023 completed its acquisition of family-owned Kum & Go and Solar Transport from the Krause Group for an estimated $2 billion, adding about 400 locations to its portfolio and doubling the number of stores it owns. Kum & Go had locations across 13 states.

The Maverik brand targets adventure seekers and outdoor enthusiasts by establishing itself as a “base camp” to fuel up for activities such as off-roading, biking, canoeing and mountain climbing while reflecting the natural beauty of the local communities’ favorite outdoor adventures in the stores’ design and incorporating them into the stores’ concept and decor.
