New Leadership for Huck’s

Longtime CEO departs Martin & Bayley

CARMI, Ill. -- Murat Tokad has been promoted from executive vice president to president of Martin & Bayley Inc., which owns the Huck’s convenience-store brand, following the departure of CEO Todd Jenney, CSP Daily News has learned.

“We believe Murat will bring knowledge, skill and excitement to this position and will guide Martin & Bayley to continued success,” the company said in an internal memo provided to CSP.

Tokad started his convenience-store career in 1989 as a cashier in Atlanta. He joined Crown Central Petroleum as a store manager trainee in 1993. In his 12 years with that company, he held positions such as store manager, district manager, field recruiter, senior division manager and regional vice president.

He joined Huck’s in 2004 as a division manager in Carmel, Ind. He was promoted to regional manager in 2007, vice president of operations in 2008 and executive vice president in 2015.

Jenney has decided to leave the company to spend more time with his family, Tokad said. He had been CEO since 2007. He was also a regional vice president for Crown Central Petroleum.

“We thank Todd for his many years of dedication and leadership to Martin & Bayley,” Tokad said. “We wish Todd and his wife, Marla, nothing but the best and continued success in the years to come.”

Based in Carmi, Ill., Martin & Bayley has 120 c-stores in Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Kentucky and Tennessee. The stores feature the Daybreak Cafe coffee, Bigg Swigg fountain and Grillin’ Zone foodservice programs, among other offerings. The Martin and Bayley families sold the company to employees in 2001, making it a 100% employee-owned company. Huck's ranked No. 54 in CSP's 2017 Top 202 listing of c-store chains by number of company-operated retail outlets.
