Fuel and convenience-store retailer Onvo is the official travel plaza sponsor of Penn State Football for the 2024-25 season, the company announced Tuesday.

The sponsorship comes as a result of Scranton, Pennsylvania-based Onvo’s partnership with Playfly Sports, a sports media, marketing and technology firm.

The Onvo-Playfly collaboration will include in-game advertising at all Nittany Lion home football games, block party activations, digital marketing initiatives and game-day promos for attendees.

“Penn State has one of the most passionate, loyal fanbases in all of sports, and we’re excited to be part of that community,” Onvo Vice President of Marketing Harman Aulakh said. “As a company based in Pennsylvania with locations throughout the state, it feels like a very natural fit. There are few organizations that resonate with our guests like Penn State Football does. We look forward to helping fuel Penn State fans on game day and every other day.”

  • Onvo is No. 163 on CSP’s 2024 Top 202 ranking of convenience-store chains by store count.

Onvo, which has been in business since 1988, operates 39 travel plazas and gas stations, 25 quick- and full-service restaurants and six hotels. Its locations are centered in northeastern and central Pennsylvania, as well as upstate New York.

The retailer got its start in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania, where it was known as Liberty Travel Plazas. It launched its new name and brand identity in mid-2020.

Last month, Onvo opened its first c-store location with Onvo-branded gasoline, calling it “an exciting new chapter” for the company.
