Outlook Leadership Expands Offerings

Welcomes Thayer Leadership Development Group for conference's 20th anniversary

OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill. -- For the first time, the Thayer Leadership Development Group (TLDG) is offering its specialized brand of leadership development away from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. The Thayer Leadership "Boot Camp" will be an exclusive program to the 20th annual Outlook Leadership 2014 conference at the Fairmont Princess in Scottsdale, Ariz., Nov. 16-19, 2014.

The mission of TLDG is to help build leaders of character by offering leadership and ethics education grounded in the U.S. Army's leadership philosophy of "Be, Know, Do" and West Point's values of "Duty, Honor, Country." TLDG provides disciplined programming for leadership development, incorporating both world-class academic instruction and experiential learning for the seasoned leader as well as one emerging to the c-suite.

The Thayer Leadership "Boot Camp" at Outlook will feature a keynote presentation by Brigadier General (retired) Maureen LeBoeuf, a workshop by Colonel (retired) Thomas Henry Magness, and a "Body and Brain Boost" physical workout. Participants of the TLDG program attest to its effectiveness and relevance for modern leaders.

"Strong leadership is essential in today's environment, and any time we have an opportunity to observe, study or participate in leadership development, I consider it a gift," said Dean Durling, president of QuickChek. "We have used the TLDG at West Point as a prime example of how the U.S. military selects, trains and develops the best leaders for our country."

In addition to the Leadership Boot Camp, Outlook Leadership 2014 will offer a full series of specialty programming, expanded this year, including a Capital Markets Symposium, Leadership Workshops, Fuel Wholesaler Meetings and a Legal Share Group.

The conference welcomes more than 300 executive-level and emerging leaders from the convenience store, petroleum/fuel and foodservice industries to collaborate with each other, industry innovators and key suppliers and vendors.

The conference will carry its military theme into the philanthropic activities of CARRE, the Charitable Alliance of Restaurant & Retail Executives. At this year's Outlook Leadership, support donated via CARRE will benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation, which provides support to the spouses and children of soldiers killed or disabled in service to our country.

Attendees can also look forward to the features that continue to make Outlook Leadership 2014 a must-attend, annual event--numerous opportunities for professional and social relationship building; a comprehensive schedule of sessions, Leadership Workshops; the TopGolf Reception and Dinner; and the C-Store Product Gallery.

"Leaders have told us they come to Outlook because it provides the best content in the industry and therefore brings together the right mix of executive-level industry players," said Kay Segal, senior vice president at CSP Business Media. "The value of the few days at this event is immense, especially this year where the conference is taking a unique approach to helping its attendees provide the kind of leadership required to inspire tomorrow's workforce."
