Pilot Co. last month opened its largest location to date in Stanton, Tennessee, a 20,000-square-foot travel center.
“Our new store in Stanton, Tennessee, is our largest new-store build to date and has been thoughtfully designed with the guest in mind,” said Jim Rose, vice president of operations for the Knoxville, Tennessee-based convenience-store chain. “This store is inspired by Pilot’s new brand standards and will serve as a blueprint for store designs in the future. We are excited to add this location to our network and are eager to share more details about this store very soon.”
Pilot Co. is No. 15 on CSP’s 2024 Top 202 ranking of U.S. convenience-store chains by store count.
Additional information on the new store design and updates on Pilot’s 2025 growth and brand strategy will be made available in an update later this quarter, the company said.

In another recent opening, Pilot on Dec. 16 celebrated the opening of a location in Tuskegee, Alabama, a mile from the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site.
This location honors the legacy of the trailblazing World War II heroes. The Tuskegee Airmen were the first African-American military pilots and airmen in the United States armed forces. The group was founded in 1941 and trained at Moton Field in Tuskegee.
The store’s design features a replica of the original Moton Field Control Tower and in-store signage honoring the 1,578 missions flown by the Tuskegee airmen and the 850 awards the service members and their unit received, Pilot said.
Founded in 1958, Pilot Travel Centers LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Omaha, Nebraska-based Berkshire Hathaway. It has about 900 locations in 44 states and six Canadian provinces, serving an average of 1.2 million customers per day.
