The board of managers of Quality Oil Co. has named Don McIver as president and CEO following the retirement of Graham Bennett.
McIver, 55, is a more than 15-year veteran of Winston-Salem, North Carolina-based Quality Oil, most recently serving as executive vice president of finance. He will continue to serve in that role while the company reevaluates the position and searches for a replacement.
McIver joined the company in July 2009 after serving as a partner at Ernst & Young. He started his career at KPMG.
Quality Oil is No. 53 on CSP's 2024 Top 202 ranking of convenience-store chains by store count.
“On behalf of everyone at Quality Oil, I thank Graham for his steadfast service to our company,” said McIver. “I’m truly humbled to lead Quality Oil, a place that has been such an integral part of my life and career for many years. Our company is about much more than any single person or leader. We are a strong, close-knit group at Quality Oil and Reliable Tank Line, and we are focused on continuing to grow our diverse portfolio of operating companies.”
“We are on a growth trajectory and are hiring,” McIver added.
Quality Oil, a private, family-owned local business since 1929, began as a distributorship for Shell Oil Co. It has grown to become a regional company offering a diverse range of products and services, including petroleum products, convenience stores, hotels, transportation and real estate development. Quality Oil’s 138 convenience stores operate under brands including Quality Mart, Quality Plus and GoGas.
