QuikTrip Arrives in Alabama

Retailer opens high-traffic remote travel center concept, its first location in state

COTTONDALE, Ala. — QuikTrip Corp. opened a new location in Cottondale, Ala., on Feb. 17, the convenience-store chain’s first in Alabamaits 15th stateand one of the retailer’s new remote travel centers.

Located outside of Tuscaloosa, Ala., it features a larger lot and a more spacious store than standard QuikTrip locations. It has room to service 20 cars for gas. The Gen 3S Remote Travel Center has a vertical 9-MPD fuel canopy and a truck canopy with six truck diesel bays and two auto diesel fuel points.

“We are excited to introduce QuikTrip in Alabama with our first remote travel center in Cottondale. We look forward to introducing our unique QuikTrip brand and culture to our new community,” said Amy Gulizia, division manager for the company’s remote store network. “The travel center allows us to not only create meaningful connections with our new local customers in Cottondale, but also serve travelers in this busy part of the country.”

QuikTrip designed its remote travel center model specifically for highly trafficked areas of the country that are within reasonable proximity to a company distribution center for access to fresh food. The new Cottondale store is the 12th store in the retailer’s remote store network. QuikTrip plans to build more remote travel center locations, with several sites currently under construction, including in Calera and Opelika, Ala., expected to open by the end of the year.

The new site’s expanded QT Kitchen offers fresh, made-to-order food, premium specialty drinks and frozen treats, including soft pretzels, pizzas, custom breakfast tacos, hardwood smoked BBQ sandwiches, cold brew coffee and more.
