ANDERSON, S.C. -- A new QuikTrip convenience store in Anderson, S.C., is the Tulsa, Okla.-based company's second store in the area, while three more are under construction nearby, reported the Anderson Independent Mail.
QuikTrip Corp. has expanded its growth plans in the state of South Carolina, and a total of nine stores are under construction in the Upstate area, the report said.
It opened a store in Boiling Springs near Spartanburg in October 2011, with more planned there, as well, and in Greenville County.
And the company has established a management office for the South Carolina division in Greenville.
"We're really grateful for the opportunity," Bill Giegerich, personnel manager for the Carolinas division of the company, told the newspaper concerning the new Anderson store. "Since we opened the first store in town, it has been a great experience."
The newest store employs 13 people, he said.
Giegerich said customers are drawn to the cleanliness, great food and high-end coffee at QuikTrip locations.
A location on Liberty Highway will be the next one to open, said the report. It will cater to long-haul truck drivers in addition to other customers, Giegerich said.
He said timetables were not available for when the company expected to open its next Anderson location, but since all three sites are under construction, it shouldn't be long.
"We don't have a specific expectation," he said, "but once we're under construction you can expect that these will be built in quick fashion, [in] a few weeks or months."
The company operates nearly 600 c-stores in 10 states.
